Medu Vada


   Ingredients:
   
1) Black Gram/Urad Daal 1 cup
2) Green chilli chopped 1
3) Chopped onion 1 small
4) Few cumin seeds
5) Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
6) Pinch of Asafoetida/Hing
7) Salt as per taste
8) Oil for fring



Steps:

1) Rinse the black gram/urad daal for few minutes and soak them for at least 6 hours.
2) Strain water and grind it well until lentils  stick to the insides of the ja,add 1/2 cup more water and grind it well.There should be no grainy texture in the batter.Mix it verry well with hand finally .
3) In a bowl take some water and put little amoun of mixture in it,if it is floating in water then the mixture is ready .Otherwise you have to mix it again.
4) Add chopped green chili+chopped onion+cumin seeds+ asafoetida/hing+black pepper powder+salt and mix it well with a spatula.
5) Heat oil,dip your hands in water take some mixture, make into a ball do not press very much just make a hole and put it in hot oil,fry them in medium hot oil till golden and crisp.
6) You can serve it with pickle/chutney/sambar also.
