Magur Macher Kalia
Ingredients:
- Magur mach (cat fish) - 1 medium size cut
- Chopped onion - 1 medium
- chopped tomato - 1 medium
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Cumin powder - 1 tsp
- Red chili powder - 1tsp
- Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Mustard oil - 100 gm
- Salt - as per taste
Steps:
- Take the catfish steaks in a bowl ,wash and apply little salt + turmeric powder.
- In a pan/kadahi heat mustard oil and fry the catfish steaks until golden brown.
- Now add more oil in the same pan. After heating add chopped onion and make it brown. Then add ginger garlic paste and stir it for few minutes.Add chopped tomatoes and stir until soft.
- Add cumin powder + turmeric powder + red chili powder + black pepper powder mix it well and pour 1 cup of water. Boil it till oil start separating from the masala.Add garam masala powder + salt.
- Now add the fried fish steaks to the masala of the pan and cook it for 5 minutes. Add 3 cups of water and cover the pan with a lid and let the curry cook on medium flame for 15 minutes .
- After 15 minutes open the lid and cook it more 5 minutes in high flame. After 5 minutes off the flame.
- Serve it with hot steamed rice.
