Ilish Bhapa/Steamed Hilsa
1) Hilsa Fish 500 gm
2) Black Mustard Seeds 2 tbsp
3) Pinch of Cumin seeds
4) Turmeric Powder
5) Salt as per taste
6) Mustard oil 3 tbsp
7) Green chilies 7
Steps:
1) Clean hilsa fishes and keep aside.
2) Grind black mustard seeds+cumin seeds+green chilies(4 pieces) with very little water and make a smooth paste.Add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt(as per taste) and keep aside.
3)Place the fish pieces in a microwave proof bowl and pour the prepared mustard sauce over it so that it covers all the fish pieces nicely. Add 3 slit green chili on the top and add 3tbsp of mustard oil on them.
4) Bake it for 20 minutes(for each side 10 minutes) in 375F.
OR, In a pressure cooker safe bowl Place the fish pieces and pour the prepared mustard sauce over it so that it covers all the fish pieces nicely. Add 3 slit green chili on the top and add 3tbsp of mustard oil on them and cook in pressure cooker for 2-3 whistles.
5) You can serve it with hot steamed rice.
